Shift Commanders
Captain Sean O'Leary was raised in the city and graduated from Easthampton High in 1986. He went on to attend the University of Massachusetts, majoring in Sports Management, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 1991. In July of 1996, Sean was hired full time by the city of Easthampton as a Firefighter/EMT-Basic. He attended the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy in Stow, Mass and graduated from recruit training class 118, in February of 1997. In November 2016, he was promoted to his current rank of Captain.
Captain O'Leary has vast training and real life experience with all aspects of firefighting, rescue and EMS including: countless structure and wildland fires, rescues and medical emergencies. He has attended multiple live fire and flashover simulator trainings, electrical and natural gas emergency training, Hazmat training, emergency vehicle operations, structural collapse, search and rescue training, bomb threat and active shooter training, just to name a few. He is a licensed Construction Supervisor and has numerous training certifications including: Firefighter I and II, Confined Space Rescue-Awareness Level, Hazmat First Responder-Operational Level, Rope Rescue-Operational Level, EVOC-Advanced, as well as several Incident Command System certifications.
Sean still lives in Easthampton with his wife Kim, their twin sons Sean and Ryan, and dogs Colton and Kaia.
