The workshop will shed light on the financial scams and fraud being perpetrated against the elderly and what to do to avoid abuse. Speakers for the Financial Elder Abuse workshop include Mayor Nicole LaChapelle, Chief Alberti, D/ Lt. Alexander, DA Sullivan and Hampshire County Sheriff Cahillane.
“Between 3 and 5 million seniors fall victim each year to financial abuse. Many cases of elder abuse are committed by known and trusted people. It is our responsibly as a financial institute and as a community leader to teach our seniors how to spot suspicious activity,” said James Kelly, President and CEO of the Polish National Credit Union. “We also train our employees to detect scams and what to do in response.”
