Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Easthampton

Easthampton, MA – The Polish National Credit Union (PNCU) will sponsor a Financial Elder Abuse Workshop at Our Lady of the Valley Parish, 33 Adams St., Easthampton, MA on Thursday, September 22, 2022 from 12 PM to 2 PM. The workshop will shed light on the financial scams and fraud being perpetrated against the elderly and what to do to avoid abuse. The workshop comes at a time when the rate of fraud against the elderly is at an all-time high. Seniors can enjoy a catered lunch courtesy of the Polish National Credit Union while listening to guest speakers.

Speakers for the Financial Elder Abuse workshop include Mayor Nicole LaChapelle, Chief Alberti, D/ Lt. Alexander, DA Sullivan and Hampshire County Sheriff Cahillane.

“Between 3 and 5 million seniors fall victim each year to financial abuse. Many cases of elder abuse are committed by known and trusted people. It is our responsibly as a financial institute and as a community leader to teach our seniors how to spot suspicious activity,” said James Kelly, President and CEO of the Polish National Credit Union. “We also train our employees to detect scams and what to do in response.”

Founded in 1921, Polish National Credit Union provides a full range of financial services to individuals, families and businesses. The organization operates eight branches in Chicopee, E. Longmeadow, Hampden, Granby, Southampton, Westfield and Wilbraham, plus a satellite office at Chicopee Comprehensive High School.

Seating will be limited and will be offered to the first 100 residents. Please RSVP to Easthampton Council on Aging at 413-527-6151 ext. 135 by Thursday, September 15th
